I just found this (see what happens when you are bored at work?) and I remember some of you as little kids!! I was in camp from 1979 - 1986, only stopping after finally becoming head counselor! I was looking through the posts and your stories are really funny. I have a few of my own, but don't want to embarrass myself!

Fri, November 10, 2006 - 9:51 AMHi, Scott! Good to see you also. You sure took your share, huh? How about CeCe is a mole??? Too funny...we tortured that poor girl. And Ellen with the big red glasses...!! -

Re: I'm old!
Sat, November 11, 2006 - 4:58 PMYes some of the fun was based on cruelty, but it was definitely a blast. CeCe is a mole kind of stuck way beyond her years where people would say it in dedications and not even know why it was there and didn't have any understanding of it either. LOL -

Re: I'm old!
Tue, November 14, 2006 - 7:38 AMIt was some of the best times of my life! The big trips were awesome - I remember staying in those horrible dorms at Old Dominion in Virginia Beach and all of us walking to that sandwich shop - we were so excited to get "good" food!!!!

Re: I'm old!
Wed, November 15, 2006 - 7:41 AMScott kind of piqued my curiosity (I still don't know the whole CeCe is a mole story). What were some of the good dedications? I remember creating tons of them, but I can't really remember any of the good ones...... -

Wed, November 15, 2006 - 8:58 AMDedicated to the whole camp...6.02 x 10 to the 23rd
Knit One Pearl Two...Cece, etc.
That said, Cece was one of my favorite campers/CIT's. She was really nice and a lot of fun. I remember her smiling a lot and being a great athlete and really motivated in Leagues and camp activities. Her bunk liked her a lot, too. She was a couple of years older than I, and my bunk loved when she would hang out. I remember she had these very cool old jeans that she partially bleached, they came out great. She also had a huge collection of different colored bandanas she would tie and line up in a row at the foot of her camp bed where the metal bar was.
There's really no story behind the mole thing except the frequent camp nicknames that often come about. I think the waiters made that one up. I defer to Scott for that one, if I'm missing anything. She was not by any means unattractive. It just took off in the Mess Hall one day and kept going. Scott? -

Re: I'm old!
Wed, November 15, 2006 - 11:09 PMThanks for the defer Trilb, but I think I'd like to pass it to Sue. For some reason though, and I do think it was the waiters that came up with it, I think it was the other kind of mole, as in she tattled or was like a spy for the counselors and got the guys in trouble. I really don't know the full story but that sort of sounds familiar. I may try and ask Howard when I talk to him next. Oh, speaking of Howard Gillick, his wife, Vonnie, from South Africa is pregnant and they are very happy with the news as they were trying and hoping for that to happen. It is funny that you said that Cece had all those bandanas cause I remember her having a lot of them too. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: I'm old!
Mon, November 20, 2006 - 8:36 AMHi, guys!! Defering to me, huh?? CeCe was very nice and a great bunkmate. Always willing to give up her turn at first shower, etc. It was the waiters that made it up and she was so upset about it. Part of it was that she had dark brown hair and a nose that turned downward (looking like a mole) but also because she told about a raid or something (my memories of that are not too clear). I just can't believe that it stuck and people were saying it without ever knowing CeCe. Scott - how about Sue Nick??? She was so hysterical and she had those Chuck Taylor sneakers that she tried to throw over the wires at camp because she was from Philly and was so proud of it! I think it was Howard Gillick who came up with "Moo Nick" instead of Sue Nick...lol. Everyone was so mean. So glad to hear the news about Howard though - I am sooo happy for him and Vonnie - I'm going to send him an email!! Talk to you soon! -

Re: I'm old!
Tue, November 21, 2006 - 12:49 AMI remember Sue Nick quite well. I don't really remember the whole Moo Nick thing. About 6 years ago Howard and I were on the internet and trying to find old people from camp and we put in her name and found that she didn't live too far from Doylestown. We had a phone number so he made me call and sure enough it was Sue and a really good call and she was going to try and see both of us at one point, but it never happened. Recently when my parents came to California to go with me to Andrew Tendler's wedding in Australia and then go to New Zealand as well, they brought a bunch of my old stuff and in with it were two letters that I had gotten from Sue Nick probably the year after her last one at the Twig. It is amazing how many great memories of camp there are.
