Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 7:21 AMDave,
Was "Gerse is in the house oh my g-d" a reference the the Blazay Blazay song "When the east is in the house Danger"? refernence? Because if it was that would be one of the most interesting one hit classic hip hop references of all time...
Anyway I think Bradley may take out Kansas...but what do I know. I am a professional college sports broadcaster, but when it comes to this time of year...I do terrible in picking this thing -

Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 7:40 AMI thiin kNC State as a 10 seed can make a littel noise. In fact, I really think that 3 of the 4 10 seeds will win go on to the second round(Seton Hall, Alabama, NC State) I don't see the Hoyas losing to Northern Iowa. I also think that UAB can beat Kentucky, and I really like San Diego State to beat Indiana. Then again.....I'm an idiot. -

Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 8:03 AMNC State played terrible down the stretch...And Leon Powe on Cal will give them fits...If Craig Smith ate them up, Powe is a similar player. Their bigs down low are thin, evenm though Ced Simmons is a good shot blocker...Expect a 5 seed to suffer an upset in the first round...16 of the last 17 years a 12 has upended a 4 in this tournament...Some people say Texas A&M will take out the Cuse...I disagree...My money is on Montana over Nevada..Montana gave Washington the fits last year losing by 8 as a 16 seed,,,And Nevada has to ajust to being the hunted and not the hunter. We have seen in the past the role reversal lead to upset (Gonzaga a few years back)...
I am not sold on Alabama, they are very athletic, but lack a bit on Defense...Marquette is a qaulity team...Steve Novak can hit the Tre and their point guard Dominic James is one of the best freshman in the nation...If it werent for all the great guards in the big east James would have been first team all conference....
I like Seton Hall as well to take out Wichita State...But it is the Shockers, and we all love the Shocker, right? Missouri Valley is official, fuck what Billy "fudge" Packer has to say...
I also like San Diego State...even though Rummeal Robinson, Terry Mills, Gary Grant, Eric Riley, Jon Voskul, Ray Jackson and Jimmie King arent walking through that door for the Aztechs, head coach Steve Fisher (Michigan champs in 1989, for the Smarcus and AAlberts of the world)...
We shall see we shall see -

Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 8:50 AMMy rationale for NC State beating Texas is that I have no faith in the Big 12. I think no matter what the West Virginina can beat either one of them as long as Pittsnoggle plays tight. Spaeking of Cuse, I really don't see why they can't make a run at the final four. Duke seems to be their greatest obstacle and half the time I've watched Duke play this year it's been 4 guys standing around watching Reddick. Cuse early on would do the same thing with McNamara, but after the Big East run, I think they might be ready for Prime Time. I thought that Gonzaga was not a top five team coming in, but I think they got a good draw and can come out of that bracket. Villanova I think is gonna have big problems if Ray can't play well. -

Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 10:36 AMI like Vilanova alot, that is if Ray can see. I think they have the tools to win the whole thing if healthy...People always say that they lack size, which is true, but it is impossible to guard the four guard offense. I have never seen an offesnive system like Nova in the shot clock era. Another Knock on them is that they depend on the three too much. People who say that must have not seen them against St. Joe's where they couldn't hit the side of a barn. The key in the tournament to advance beyond the sweet 16 is gaurd play, we all know that...
When you have four guards all who can handle the rock, shoot the ball, rebound, and most importnantly defend the entry pass, you have a solid chance. A lot of people think that UCONN is hands down going to win it all. I think they very well can win it, but they lack in perhaps the most important category neccesary for a team to win the title, and that is toughness...Uconn can very well make the Final Four on talent alone...But I think if they were to meet Nova in the Semis, The Cats will get them...They may be one of the most mentally tough teams to come around in a long time. The fact that they were able to keep fighting against Pitt at the Garden on Friday night when their star senior guard was taken off the court screaming "I can See!!!" was remarkable. If Pittsburg didn't have their best game of the season shooting wise, Nova would have won...
The Big East is awsome...I like Cuse alot too. WVU can be dangerous...Georgetown is official...The entire conference has numerous threats to make it to the final four...
I like Nova alot...if Ray can see -

Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 10:47 AMNova has the tools, but they also have the biggest gunner since Chris Gattling in Nardi -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 11:08 AMHa....Chris Gattling....Now If Jason Cipolla had a year of ellibility left, would you want him on your team? -
-
Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 11:28 AMJason Cipolla hit the shot from the corner on the John Wallace inbounds pass from half court to win I think against Georgia the year they lost to Kentucky, or should I say the year they lost to Tony Delk. Either way, he was better than Marius Janulis. -
-
Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 11:32 AMThat shot Gene by Cipolla sent the game to overtime...it tied it against Georgia...Remember in that game Wallace hit a three pointer on the run after I think Shandon Anderson hit a shot for Georgia to take the lead...Before I left for work that game was on ESPN Classic..I only saw the first half. In my opinion one of the most exciting games in NCAA history because it was so back and forth -
-
Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 11:38 AMThat year John Wallace was an absolute killer in the tournament. One of the great runs ever. -
-
Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 11:50 AMYeah it was...I was just talking to a co-worker of mine, we looked at who they beat...I remember they beat Kansas in the Elite 8....That was the year Everyone thought Uconn with Ray Allen, Georgetown with Iverson and Villanova with Kittles were going to go to the final four. It was the resurgence of the Big east, which I loved...The ACC was down that year...duke was an 8 seed. I remember having Syracuse win it all that year...I was wrong...If Wallace didn't foul out with 3 mintues left they would have had a chance...That Kentucky team was stacked big time.... -

Re: NCAA
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 12:08 PMI had syracuse in the pool that year also, but I had them losing in the final to UMASS. G-Damn Marcus Camby. -
